To Jiggle or Not to Jiggle

I have some past and some recent successes on my fitness journey. With my first round of Insanity I lost 15 lbs and 7 inches off my waist.  (7 inches that I didn't even know were there, lol.) You can check out my Insanity results here. More recently, I lost 12 lbs and 10 inches with Beachbody's Ultimate Reset. Read about my Reset journey.  I've also gained muscle and toned up more and I am now, once again, completing Insanity. I am on Week 4 of 9. (For more information on either program, free coach support or to become a coach yourself, message me or click here)

Needless to say, I am in need of NEW workout clothes. Although my total weight loss is not a crazy ridiculous number, I am DOWN pounds and inches. 8 inches down in my waist and about 6 inches from my hips so far. So what I'm saying now is that I am in need. I am not a label junkie. I do my regular workouts from home, so Im not trying to impress anyone. But, I do want to have the option to run to the store or pick up the kids in my workout wear, especially since Spring is right around the corner.

In a nutshell, I just want something comfortable, cute
AND
with good spandex.

I've read so many different opinions on lose clothing vs tight clothing.

I've read that looser is best because it allows the body to sweat and breathe and helps you to stay cool. I've tried working out before in loose jogging pants and big t-shirt and it's just not for me.  For me, tighter clothing is my preference.

My biggest reason is JIGGLE.

When I workout, I don't want to feel anything moving and shaking. That's SO distracting to me. I workout alone, so I'm not even thinking about somebody watching me jiggle as I try and keep up with Shaun T. I can only imagine what working out hard at the gym would feel like. I'm sure there is always someone watching you at the gym, male or female- out of admiration, lust or disgust etc.  Honestly though, with everything moving everywhere, how much would you really put into your workout. It's easy to get consumed with jumping differently or moving in a certain range so as to not JIGGLE as much. What a waste of time.

I AINT GOT TIME FOR THAT!!

Plus, body hugging workout clothes keep me conscious of keeping correct form. I don't know why but its a mind thing for me. It's like I want to have better posture, contract my core and elongate my muscles when Im in  nice form-fitting clothes. It's a confidence booster and more motivating for me as well.

So, Im off to search for some nice workout apparel that has a good spandex blend that will hold me all together and can keep me going strong in my workouts for the next few months.

Here are a few pieces I saw during my online search.

Bottom line... Whatever makes you feel most comfortable and keeps you pushing thru your workout at full speed is what you should workout in.

That Plate Looks Nasty!!

I've recently got a few comments regarding the foods I ENJOYED on the Ultimate Reset. I just want to address comments in regards to the foods
"looking too healthy" or "not looking as good"
as I expressed.

My MAIN Goal is to inspire by sharing my own personal experiences. What I learned most over the past 7 months as a Beachbody Coach is that everyone NEEDS some form of support. This is why I do what I do. I'm no chef and I dont always have a photographer on hand so everything is not always picture perfect. What I can give you is my authenticity. It's REAL!!  I have been a pretty good eater most of my life but there will always be tons of foods, spices and meal prep methods out there to try.

Gradually, I have started to LOVE certain healthy foods and desire less other foods that I thought I couldn't "live" without. Never thought I could go thru a month without sugar, meat, bread, wine, milk, gum, cheese and the list goes on and on. Honestly, I can say that although I have loved cheese my whole life, I don't even desire to overindulge in it as I used to.  This is because I thoroughly Enjoy so many other foods now. My most recent discovery was beans and beets. These things were unheard of in my house.

When you decide to expand your food horizons you see what you have been missing.

Here are a few simple steps to gradually begin to experience
new foods.

Fresh foods. Incorporate more colorful fresh foods into each meal. This way you will gradually eat less processed foods.
Small steps. Add to foods you already eat. For instance, put spinach on your pizza or add broccoli to your soup or add a salad as a side to one meal a day.
Try something new. Decide to try one new healthy meal a week or at least once a month.

When I started doing these 3 things regularly, I started to see results. I felt more energized, experienced less bloating, lost weight and started really enjoying simpler meals.
You can enjoy meals that are not soaked in butter or sauce. You can enjoy meals where Meat is not the highlight. You do not have to be a vegetarian to enjoy vegetables. You can eventually enjoy life without sugar or fried foods. I'm saying this because I know. I doubted but I tried it and I survived and it's not "too healthy"!  It has actually been very satisfying. Try it!!! You may just find a few new healthy foods to fall in love with.

Remember that every healthy choice counts.
In the end, not only should eating balanced be about losing weight, it should also be about feeling good, having more energy, and reducing your risk of cancer and disease.

What's In Your Oatmeal??

Some chilly mornings, I really enjoy warming up with hot bowl of oatmeal.  Depending on the day, I can enjoy oatmeal in the mornings and in the afternoon. We all know that oatmeal is full of whole grain fiber and is a very satisfying breakfast. But, I must admit that without some creativity, it can get kind of boring.....

  • - Diced apple, 1 tablespoon raisins, 5 chopped almonds, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  • - Sliced banana, two tablespoons vanilla yogurt, and one tablespoon walnuts.
or try adding

maple syrup, strawberries and whipped cream, apple butter, shredded carrots with raisins and walnuts, flaxseed, dried cranberries, granola, brown sugar, canned pumpkins with pecans, honey and cinnamon, cocoa powder with shredded coconut and almonds
or even put dry uncooked oats in your smoothie.
